ABOUT THE WEIDE FUND

The Women Exporters in the Digital Economy (WEIDE) Fund was launched in February 2024 by the World Trade Organization (WTO) Secretariat and the
International Trade Centre (ITC). It helps women-led businesses grow through international trade and digital tools. The Fund works across sectors and regions to strengthen ecosystems that enable women-led businesses to thrive in the digital economy. Click here to download our brochure.
 
With a $50 million fund, WEIDE aims to improve women entrepreneurs’ access to the followoing support free of charge:
  • Funds – providing grants and working with financial institutions to close the funding gap;
  • Skills and knowledge  – training and access to information on digital tools and export readiness;
  • Markets – connecting women to digital market platforms;
  • Networks and support services – leveraging partnerships with business support services, private and public sector actors to create a more inclusive and effective business environment that work for women.

Who can apply

The WEIDE Fund is open to:
  • Women-led micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) that are already exporting or ready to begin;
  • Formally registered businesses that have export potential and are managed or majority-owned by women.

ELIGIBLE BUSINESSES MUST BE:

  • Formally registered and operational
  • Active or interested in digital trade
  • Able to demonstrate growth potential and job creation impact
The WEIDE Fund is open to:

What we offer:

DISCOVERY TRACK

 Aims to build the export potential for micro and small women-led businesses looking to break into international markets within a timeline of 9–12 months. The discovery grant is between $2,000–$5,000 for working capital or equipment.
 
Support includes:
  • Business coaching to map your growth path
  • Digital skills training
  • Branding and marketing support
  • Access to online marketplaces
  • Help connecting to financial services
  • Soft skills for business growth

BOOSTER TRACK

Aims to scale the export reach of export-ready businesses ready to grow their global footprint within a timeline around 12 months. The booster grant range is up to $30,000 (linked to milestones and co-financing).
 
Support includes:
  • Bespoke business acceleration coaching
  • Support to boost export competitiveness
  • Investment readiness and tech upgrades
  • Market linkages and buyer engagement
  • Soft skills to support scaling

In each country, WEIDE works through business support organizations (BSOs) selected via a competitive process. The Fund runs as a country-level project in:

  • Dominican Republic - Centro de Exportación e Inversión de la República Dominicana (ProDominicana)
  • Jordan - Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation (JEDCO)
  • Mongolia - Mongolian National Chamber Of Commerce And Industry (MNCCI)
  • Nigeria - Nigerian Export Promotion Council  (NEPC)
